New York's COVID Lockdown - One Year Later

42nd street - March 2020   On March 17, 2020, I had an appointment in mid-town New York. It was the second full day of the COVID lockdown, so I took my camera with me to document the effects on the city. One year later I returned and walked the same path to see how things had changed. Lexington Ave March 2020 Lexington Ave March 2021 One thing that was immediately obvious was that there was a lot more traffic on the streets. The streets had been a ghost town in 2020. Now you would never know that there was still a pandemic going on. Same thing for Fifth Ave and 42nd Street. 42nd street, March 2021 My first stop was at Grand Central Terminal. In 2020 I had the place almost to myself. This year there were certainly many more people around, although it was not back to its full capacity. New York City in the time of COVID

Seen at Times Square I am taking a break from my usual travel blogs to share a little about what New York City looks like as the restriction die to the COVID-19 crisis take effect. Last Saturday I took a walk through Manhattan's Upper West Side. Line outside Trader Joe's I got to Lincoln Center around 11:00 AM and it was almost completely deserted. On Tuesday morning I went back down to mid-town. My first stop was at Grand Central Terminal Taking a break Erin works at Sweetgrass. "It is crazy, I have gone from serving customers to giving food away" Rachel was on her way to Connecticut to prepare for a Sept. wedding"I hope we will still be able to hold it."
